SUMMARY:The Northumberland Witch Walk
DESCRIPTION:  The Northumberland Witch Walk Join us in downtown Colborne for the inaugural Northumberland Witch Walk\, a free community gathering honouring women throughout history whose voices\, stories and power were silenced\, persecuted or erased. Beginning in beautiful Victoria Square Park\, the afternoon will feature live music and performances by women artists\, a marketplace\, readers\, food and a Witch’s Brew Tent before the main event begins at 6:00 pm. Through theatrical storytelling\, music and historical interpretation\, women performers will bring to life the stories of remarkable women who challenged the expectations and power structures of their time. The presentation will also explore the history of the witch trials and the ways accusations of witchcraft have been used to control\, punish and silence women. Following the theatrical presentation\, hundreds of participants will take to the streets of downtown Colborne for the Northumberland Witch Walk\, accompanied by music\, singing and drumming\, before returning to Victoria Square Park for a closing gathering. SUMMARY:Carl Dixon- A Man Of Titanium\, Rock & Soul
DESCRIPTION:Carl Dixon remains one of Canada’s stellar rock voices. He’s a musician\, keynote speaker and composer. Carl’s 2026 solo album PEACED TOGETHER is a SIX-CD set showcasing his original work across multiple genres. Carl’s career began when he joined CONEY HATCH as lead singer in the 1980’s. Their debut album\, produced by Kim Mitchell\, went gold with two hits Devil’s Deck and Hey Operator. It was one heck of a ride for the young Toronto rock band\, opening for Iron Maiden and Judas Priest’s North American tours. They also opened for Peter Frampton\, Ted Nugent\, Accept\, Rush and more\, featuring on MTVs glory early years. Four decades on CONEY HATCH has a special vinyl re-issue double album in celebration of their debut album’s anniversary.\n\nCarl’s written music for feature films and television series including Baywatch and Degrassi. His vocals got the attention of The Guess Who and he became lead singer (after Burton Cummings departed that line up). Carl stayed in that role for eight years until his shocking car accident. Carl played in April Wine for four years and doubled up by opening for April Wine as well. In 2008 a high speed car accident in Australia almost killed Carl and left him comatose for 10 days with 52 injuries and a traumatic brain injury. He’s reshaped his life as an inspirational speaker\, author of “Strange Way to Live” – a book of his memoirs\, and continues to tour extensively as a solo artist.\n\nExperience the captivating power of Carl Dixon’s vocals in solo acoustic rock shows. Perfect for intimate venues\, theatres\, and festivals\, Carl takes you on journey through his rock ‘n’ roll history\, sharing stories from his time opening for Iron Maiden and Judas Priest with Coney Hatch. With self-deprecating humor and a deep connection to his iconic guitars\, he reveals the magic behind his hit songs and the inspiration drawn from overcoming a life-changing accident. Ready for a-good vibe that will have everyone rocking along!\n\nTickets are $40 plus hst and service fee and available at the Experience Cobourg Box Office: 855-372-2210

SUMMARY:Codrington Farmers' Market
DESCRIPTION:Open every Sunday from 10-1\, May through October! Since its opening in 2015\, the Codrington Farmers’ Market established itself as one of the region’s premier weekly destinations. Originally created to address the absence of a local market in the Municipality of Brighton\, its popularity was immediately evident. We feel this is based on two unique features – we are the only market in the area with Sunday hours\, and the only truly rural location. Our market is in the heart of agricultural land and our vendors showcase their locally grown produce surrounded by farms. Event InformationWheelchair Accessible: Yes

SUMMARY:The Batteau Railway
DESCRIPTION:We are pleased to have Dan Buchanan speak to us about The Batteau Railway\, which is a story of the small wooden railway that was built by Asa Weller across the Quinte portage in 1793.\n\nIt carried batteaux across the portage until the early 1820’s when steamboats and decent roads changed travel habits. (The name “batteaux” is French for “boats”. It describes a specific type of flat -bottomed boat).\n\nDuring the war of 1812\, the batteaux became a critical tool of war. For the British in Canada\, the St. Lawrence River was a vital supply line. It connected the port of Montreal to the battlefronts in Upper Canada.\n\nThe story follows the development of three main families that were the first settlers on the portage\, including Asa Weller’s family\, Robert Young’s family across the road and the family of Robert Wilkins who settled at the east end of the portage.\n\nFor over three decades\, Dan Buchanan has immersed himself in Canadian historical research\, both scholarly and hands-on. Dan\, who lives in Brighton\, Ontario\, is the author of several acclaimed books.\n\n \n\n
