Event Details

Magic happens when community gathers. The Community Herb Circle is a space for learning about herbal medicine within like minded individuals. We convene once a month to make herbal preparations, share herbal knowledge, socialize, and build relationships with plants and one another. Every month, I will share a new set of herbal skills and knowledge, and we will work together to create magical herbal concoctions. This circle is for anyone who is herb curious and who are craving community. No skill or prior knowledge in herbalism is required, only your enthusiasm for learning about plants and herbal preparations. All level of skill and knowledge is welcome, and we encourage you to share what you know. This is an opportunity to ask questions and have an open discussion on any topic of herbalism in an informal setting. This session is at a low price point to make it as accessible and affordable as possible.

Elderberries!

Elderberries are an incredible powerhouse of antioxidants and antiviral properties. They have been studied to prevent viruses from implanting into healthy cells, and are most popularly made into syrups to imbibe during the cold and flu season. Elderberry syrup can be taken preventatively to prevent illness, as well as during acute illness to reduce severity of symptoms and reduce duration of infection. For the duration of this session, I will give you access to my elderberry bushes! You will have the chance to process the berries and we will make a large communal pot of elderberry syrup. You will be able to bring one jar of home made elderberry syrup home with you at the end of the session.

In order to keep costs low and accessible, we ask you bring 1 small jar for this workshop. We will provide all other ingredients.

Accessibility information: this session will take place on a farm property. We will have tables and chairs available.

What to bring:

  • Item for our snack potluck: since this session takes place around dinner time, I wanted to ensure we are all nourished during this learning session. I want to take the pressure out of worrying of bringing a meal, and instead have each of you focused on bringing a small, simple item to share, such as sliced fruit, a bar of dark chocolate, nuts, a baked good, or other. Please be aware of gluten & dairy intolerances.
  • A mug for tea
  • 1 small glass jar (125mL)
