Hastings is known as “The Hub of the Trent,” sitting right at Lock 18 and serving as the gateway to Rice Lake. It’s a fisherman’s dream, (the Hastings Bridge is the only roadway bridge in Ontario where fishing is legal), and you’ll find a fun photo op with the 12-foot stainless steel walleye, Pisces Pete. Add in a flat stretch of the Trans Canada Trail, a local brewery, great restaurants, delightful boutiques and cozy cottages and campgrounds along the waterway, and Hastings makes an easy, laid-back stop.
Getting Here
Hastings, a Trent Hills Community, is located north of Colborne, about 2.5 hours from Toronto. From Highway 401, take exit 474 (Highway 45/Division Street) in Cobourg and head north on Highway 45 to head straight into Hastings.
From Kingston, you’ll travel a little over 90 minutes on Highway 401. Take exit 509 (County Road 30), in Brighton. Take County Road 30, to County Road 29 and then take County Road 25 the rest of the way to Hastings.
From Peterborough, take Highway 7 and make your way down to Highway 25 to get to your destination of Hastings.
