Enjoy a Taste of Northumberland

From organic produce to the most eclectic cuisine, Northumberland takes pride in an abundance of culinary choices. Many local restaurants take full advantage of locally-grown produce, maple syrup, cheese, and meat to create savoury dishes. You will find everything from casual to family to fine dining restaurants with cuisine inspired from around the world.

Speaking of fresh, locally-grown produce, farmers’ markets are a Northumberland County tradition. With six markets spread out across almost every corner of the county, there are plenty of opportunities to pick up seasonal produce, baked goods, fresh flowers, artisan items and even some live entertainment.

Cafés, bakeries and coffee houses can be found nestled in the rolling hills and small towns of the region and you’ll definitely want to note the stops on the Kawarthas Northumberland Butter Tart Tour. Many visits will be required so you can sample, compare and pick your favourite!

Northumberland is also home to cideries and breweries too. From craft beer using famous local donuts (that’s right, donuts!) to apple cider crafted locally, including alcoholic and non-alcoholic options, you’re sure to find something to enjoy while you’re here or take with you to enjoy a taste of Northumberland at home.
